Built for Professional Use
The CompM5 was designed around the needs of military and law enforcement professionals.
Its reinforced aluminum housing protects the electronics from impacts while recessed lenses and included flip-up covers help shield the glass from dirt, debris, and abuse.
One unique feature we especially appreciate is the transparent rear lens cover. If both lens caps happen to be closed, you can still engage targets using both eyes open in an emergency, allowing the optic to remain usable until you have an opportunity to open the covers.
Operationally Parallax-Free
Like all Aimpoint red dot sights, the CompM5 is operationally parallax-free.
That means wherever the dot appears in the window, that's where the rifle is aimed once properly zeroed. There's no need to perfectly center the dot in the optic, allowing you to stay target-focused and engage faster from unconventional shooting positions.

The CompM5 shares the Aimpoint Micro footprint, making it compatible with a wide range of aftermarket mounts.

Our Thoughts
If there was ever a rifle optic you could buy once and never have to replace, the Aimpoint CompM5 would be near the top of the list.
The clarity is outstanding, the 2 MOA dot is crisp, and the battery life is so good that many shooters simply replace the battery once a year out of habit—even though it often doesn't need it.
Perhaps the biggest improvement over previous Comp-series optics is the use of a standard AAA battery. Unlike specialty batteries, AAAs are inexpensive, widely available, and easy to find almost anywhere.
While there are less expensive red dots on the market that perform very well, the CompM5 remains one of the gold standards for shooters who prioritize absolute reliability. If your rifle is built for duty, defense, or serious hard use, it's difficult to recommend anything higher.
