Our Thoughts
If we could only recommend one rifle sling, this would probably be it.
The ESD Sling has become incredibly popular for one reason:
It gets out of your way.
Unlike wider slings that tend to grab clothing and bind while moving, the ESD's 1-inch webbing slides naturally across your body during shoulder transitions, positional shooting, and movement around barricades.
Some shooters worry that a narrower sling will be less comfortable.
In practice, we've found exactly the opposite.
Because the sling moves with your body instead of fighting it, it actually feels more comfortable during prolonged use while allowing faster rifle manipulation.
The quick-adjust system is one of the best on the market. It's smooth in both directions and easy to operate under stress without requiring exaggerated movements or oversized pull tabs.
Built for Real Use
One of our favorite features is the updated MK1.5 elastic regulator.
It allows the sling to fold neatly against the rifle for storage inside patrol vehicles, rifle cases, backpacks, or safes. When it's time to deploy the rifle, simply pull the sling free and it's immediately ready for use.
It's a small detail, but one that becomes surprisingly useful if your rifle spends much of its life stored or transported.
The rear adjustment section also provides over 20 inches of adjustment, making it easy to fit everything from lightweight range clothing to full armor and winter gear.
Open-End Configuration
The ESD Sling ships in an open-end configuration, allowing you to choose the attachment hardware that best fits your rifle.
Most shooters pair it with:
- 2x Magpul QD Sling Swivels
- QD Sling Mounts (if your rifle doesn't already have integrated sockets)
This allows the sling to be configured for virtually any modern rifle platform.
Final Verdict
The Edgar Sherman Design Sling is one of the finest two-point slings available today. It's lightweight, fast, durable, and thoughtfully designed with real-world use in mind rather than unnecessary features.
Whether you're setting up a defensive AR-15, duty rifle, hunting gun, or PCC, the ESD Sling offers outstanding comfort, intuitive adjustment, and exceptional versatility.
