The Sons of Liberty Gun Works M89 M-LOK Handguard is built for shooters who demand maximum rigidity and reliability from their rifle. At the heart of the M89 is the innovative DriveLock™ rail attachment system, developed in collaboration with Icon Defense. Unlike traditional clamping systems, DriveLock uses three independent wedges that lock the handguard securely to a proprietary steel barrel nut while simultaneously pulling the rail tightly against the upper receiver for an exceptionally rigid lockup.

The result is one of the strongest free-float handguards available—ideal for hard-use rifles, duty carbines, suppressed builds, and rifles equipped with lasers or aiming devices where maintaining zero is critical.

Why DriveLock™?

The M89's patent-pending DriveLock™ system sets it apart from conventional free-float rails.

Three independent wedges engage angled grooves in the proprietary steel barrel nut, clamping the rail with tremendous force while simultaneously driving the handguard rearward against the upper receiver. This creates an incredibly secure interface that resists movement under heavy use, hard impacts, or sustained firing.

For shooters running IR lasers, aiming devices, or simply demanding maximum rigidity from their rifle, this system provides outstanding repeatability and confidence.

Built for Hard Use

The M89 also features a slightly larger internal diameter than the previous M76, offering:

• Increased clearance around gas blocks
• Improved airflow
• Slower heat transfer during extended firing strings
• Additional rigidity throughout the rail

The result is a handguard that remains comfortable to shoot while maintaining excellent strength and durability.
