Forward Controls Design EPC Billet Ejection Port Cover
The Forward Controls Design EPC (Ejection Port Cover) is a premium upgrade to one of the AR-15's simplest components. While most ejection port covers are little more than stamped sheet metal, the EPC is precision machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum and incorporates subtle design improvements that enhance both function and aesthetics.
Available in Single Dimple and Twin Dimple configurations, the EPC has become one of Forward Controls Design's signature products, adding a refined touch to any premium AR build while maintaining complete mil-spec functionality.

Thoughtful Engineering
At first glance, the EPC looks like a beautifully machined ejection port cover—but the improvements go beyond appearance.
Forward Controls Design incorporated two small tabs on either side of the spring cutout. These tabs allow the cover to rest at a slightly greater angle when open, creating additional clearance between the port cover and the lower receiver.
The result is a subtle but noticeable improvement when manually closing the cover, making it easier to get a finger underneath without fumbling.
Premium Construction
Unlike traditional stamped steel dust covers, the EPC is precision machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum before receiving a Type III hard coat anodized finish.
The machining quality is exceptional, with crisp edges, clean lines, and the signature dimples that have made the EPC one of the most recognizable Forward Controls Design components.
Compatibility
The EPC is designed around mil-spec dimensions and is compatible with the vast majority of AR-15 upper receivers.
Note: Because upper receivers vary slightly between manufacturers, the resting angle of the EPC when open may differ depending on the thickness of the material beneath the ejection port. This is normal and does not affect function.
Our Thoughts
Let's be honest—the EPC isn't going to make your rifle shoot tighter groups.
What it does offer is exactly what Forward Controls Design is known for: taking an overlooked component and refining it through thoughtful engineering and exceptional machining. The improved ergonomics are subtle, but appreciated, and the billet construction gives the rifle a premium appearance without compromising reliability.
The EPC has become somewhat of an icon in the AR community, and for good reason. It's one of those finishing touches that elevates the overall quality of a rifle build. If you're assembling a premium AR and appreciate attention to detail, the Forward Controls Design EPC is an easy recommendation.
